Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 November 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information MillionDollarJoke.com ("the site", "I", "me") collects and how it is used. The site is run by Amos Otieno Dola. It is operated from Kenya and is intended to comply with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, and to respect the privacy rights of visitors wherever they live.

1. Information stored on your own device

The site uses your browser's local storage to remember your Hype Points, game progress, the leaderboard name you choose and similar settings. This information stays on your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

2. Leaderboard

If you enter a name and save it to the leaderboard, that name, your points, your number of wins and the time of the last update are stored in a Google Firebase database and shown publicly on the site. Don't use your real full name if you'd prefer not to. Names containing links or offensive words are replaced automatically. To have a name removed, use the Contact page.

3. Payments

Optional tips are processed by PayPal (cards and PayPal balances, worldwide) and Paystack (mobile money such as M-PESA, and cards). I never see or store your card details or PIN. These providers share the payment details needed to confirm a transaction (such as the amount, date and the name, email or phone number used). The PayPal and Paystack privacy policies apply to the information you give them.

4. Advertising and cookies

This site may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also visit www.aboutads.info to opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies. To learn more, see how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

5. Hosting, statistics and comments

The site is hosted on Google's Blogger platform, which may collect standard visit information such as your IP address, browser type and pages viewed, and may use cookies to count visits. The site also uses Google Analytics to understand which pages and games are popular, for example how many people finish the Daily Challenge. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device type and the pages you visit; it does not tell me who you are. You can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

If you play the Daily Challenge, the name and country you choose, your score and the time you played are saved in the Firebase database and shown on that day's public leaderboard. If you leave a comment, your comment and the name or profile you comment with are shown publicly.

6. Links to other sites

The site links to other services, such as WhatsApp, X, Facebook, PayPal and Paystack. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them.

7. Children

The games are suitable for all ages, but tips are intended only for adults aged 18 or over. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your rights

You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it or ask me to delete it. Email amosotieno0@gmail.com.

9. Link Up accounts, posts and messages

If you use Link Up, you sign in with your Google account through Google Firebase Authentication. We store your chosen first name or nickname, your country and town, whether you confirmed you are 18 or older, and the posts, join requests and messages you create. Your email address is never shown to other users.

Posts are public (posts marked 18+ and link-ups are visible only to signed-in adults). When you post, we look up the approximate location of the area you entered using OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service and store a rounded map position, never an exact home address. The "Near me" button uses your device's location only on your device to sort results; it is not stored.

In the app, private messages can only be read by the two people in that chat. Messages are stored in Google Firebase, and the site owner will only access them to investigate a report of abuse or where the law requires it. If you report a user, your report text is shared with the site administrator so we can act on it. Posts, requests and chats for events that have ended are deleted periodically. You can delete your profile from the ⚙ menu in Link Up and delete your posts from "My posts", or email us to delete everything.

10. Changes

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
