Free card games to play online

The Card Room has six of the world's favourite card games, all free in your browser on phone, tablet or computer. Nothing to download and no sign-up. Every game uses a standard 52-card deck, and nothing here involves betting or real money: you play for fun and for Hype Points on the global leaderboard.

Crazy Eights (Kadi)

Get rid of all your cards first. Play a card that matches the top card's suit or rank. Eights are wild, so you can play one any time and choose the next suit. Can't play? Draw a card. Switch on power cards for the East African Kadi style: a 2 makes the next player pick up two, a Jack skips the next player and a King reverses direction. Play the computer or create a room and send the code to friends anywhere.

Solitaire (Klondike)

Build the four foundations up from Ace to King, one per suit. In the seven columns, stack cards downwards in alternating colours, red on black and black on red. Only a King can go into an empty column. Tap a card and it jumps to the best place automatically. Use Undo as often as you like.

21 (Blackjack for fun)

Get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Number cards count their value, picture cards count 10 and an Ace counts 1 or 11. The dealer must draw to 16 and stand on 17. There are no bets and no chips here: just your winning streak.

Hearts

A trick-taking game for four players where you want the fewest points. Each heart you take is 1 point and the Queen of Spades is 13. Before each hand you pass three cards. Take every heart and the Queen of Spades and you "shoot the moon": everyone else gets 26 points instead. The game ends at 100 points and the lowest score wins.

Spades

You and your partner (sitting opposite) play against the other two. Everyone bids how many tricks they will win. Spades always beat the other suits. Make your team's bid to score 10 points per trick bid, plus 1 point for each extra trick ("bag"), but collect 10 bags and you lose 100. First team to 300 wins.

Go Fish

Collect sets of four cards of the same rank, called books. On your turn, pick a rank you already hold and ask another player for it. If they have any, they must hand them all over and you go again. If not, "Go fish!": draw from the pile. The player with the most books at the end wins.
